Hoi Sang ‘Unique Lao Jewelry’
The initial project to work with the jewelry craftsmen in Luang Prabang, Laos began in 2011.
Providing quality tools and guiding the craftsmen to preserve their culture we learned with mutual trust that we can make a difference. We worked together on our technique, design and quality as well as business and management skills to supply the shops in the international luxury hotels in town including the Amantaka, Belmond and Rosewood Hotels. 100% of the proceeds stay in country to pay for the continued work and development including building better homes as well as better care and education for the families of the team.
The plan was to help develop a stable business for the preservation of the jewelry craft culture as well as a sustainable future for the lao craftsmen.
Returning to Laos after the pandemic, as planned, all contracts, inventory and supplies were handed over to the team of ‘Hoi Sang’ to continue the business entirely on their own. The jewelry line is still being sold in luxury hotels and chosen boutiques making it a truly successful ‘give back’ project in Luang Prabang, Laos.
